But Who Am I?

I am LaMonique Hamilton Barnes, a freelance content producer, communications and political strategist based in Eastern North Carolina. By day, I am the Development and Program Manager at Lillian’s List, a nonprofit organization dedicated to recruiting, training, and electing progressive women to public office. I’ve worked on numerous local, state and federal campaigns. A former editor and features writer for the Rocky Mount Telegram, I have written for several publications, including Hope Today Magazine, WEEN Online, Write2Be, Carolina Charm, The Wilson Times and Wilson Woman Magazine. Every now and then, I get to do something awesome with my friends, like co-write The Girlprint by Valeisha Butterfield-Jones.

My previous blog, Sweetie Pie, is a personal account of my trials and triumphs as a woman, wife, mother, artist, and entrepreneur through the filter of my Christian faith. It is designed to motivate and is written unapologetically, aggressively, and real. IAmLaMonique.com takes that initial journey and fleshes out the lifestyle of balancing creativity with the everyday getting by and moving forward.
